Audio/video plays too fast with standard Win2K audio driver for AC'97 audio
Symtom: Audio and video plays too fast (about twice the normal speed).
Hardware: Asus P4B mainboard with Intel 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller.
Software: Windows 2000 SP2. Default audio driver (ichaud.sys for "Intel(R) 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller - 2445").
Cause: The audio driver included in Windows 2000 ist not compatible with the audio chip of the P4B mainboard.
Solution: Download and install the newest AC97 audio driver from Realtek.
Note: If you have the same problem with a different audio controller, try to get the right audio driver from the web site of the manufacturer of your mainboard, or from a CD that came with the computer. For some hardware configurations, you can update the audio driver through windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
